Work with Cheshire to Best Serve the Community
Cheshire’s Personal Attendants come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Whether they are employed on a part-time, full-time or casual basis, these dedicated individuals assist consumers with many aspects of their personal care. In support of this, all new employees are provided with on-the-job training, as well as a two day in-class Cheshire orientation. In addition, Emergency First Aid / CPR, NVCPI courses are provided free of charge to all Cheshire employees requiring current certification. Cheshire provides organization specific training that includes, but not limited to: Bowel & Bladder Training, Medications & G-Tube Training, Client Centered Circle of Care and Back Care.
Cheshire employees:
- Will provide services in an individual’s home in their community, Cheshire congregate living setting or a Cheshire owned property
- Must have a valid G2 or G driver’s license, insurance and a reliable vehicle
- Will receive compensation for mileage between consumer’s homes
- Will have the ability to work with pets in the home
Attendant Outreach Programs:
- Consumers live in their own homes within the community and attendants drive from one consumer’s home to the next
- Attendants can support up to 10 consumers within the program
- Daytime and evening hours – no regularly scheduled overnight shifts
- Regularly scheduled hours include weekends and pager responsibilities
- Availability to pick up extra hours over and above regularly scheduled shifts
- Shifts can be shorter, and may also involve split shifts
Community Assisted Living Programs:
- Consumers live in a group home or apartment building environment
- Attendants can support up to 17 consumers within the program
- Programs are staffed 24 hours per day, with Attendants rotating on to all shifts
- Regularly scheduled hours include weekends
- Availability to pick up extra hours over and above regularly scheduled shifts
- Shifts are between three and eight hours in length
